Talking about the psoas.
Want to support your clients to release many sources of discomfort and pain from their back, hip and groin, as well as in the knee? Work with the psoas. Want to support your clients to create more stability, strength and resiliency in their bodies and lives? Work with the psoas.
Thinking back on massage school, I remember the psoas being a deep muscle, challenging to access. Even the name of “psoas” is interesting. I recall being in massage school back in the dark ages, late 90’s and wondering where they got so many of the interesting names for muscles. Come to find out the names for most have a relationship to either the location, shape, physiology or action of the muscle.
Psoas was one of the stranger names of a muscle for me. Turns out it comes from Ancient Greek and means “muscles of the loins”. The pair of psoas muscles are long fusiform muscles that run from the lumbar spine through the groin on either side of the pelvis and act as one of the major hip flexors.
Want to deepen your understanding of this one of the longest, strongest and deepest muscle of the body? Want to explore the many far reaching physical and emotional components of the psoas?
Come sit with Wendy Hines, LMT for the Illopsoas and Muscles of the Posterior Abdominal Wall 13 hr CE class.
This deep dive into the anatomy, kinesiology, structural integration, stretches and emotional health of the psoas will add depth and resource to your massage practice.
Wendy Hines, LMT with over 27 years in the massage and teaching space, will be sharing her in-depth knowledge and experience working with the vital and often challenging to access, iliopsoas and muscles of the posterior abdominal wall.
